About 25 people attended Friday’s Java and Juice program at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson.
Bell Tower Festival Chair Pete Russell provided an update to the 40th festival that will be happening June 7th through the 9th in Jefferson. She said this year’s event will not include a beverage garden, but rather it will be an open concept. Those who are 21 and older will have a wristband and can purchase alcohol and walk freely around the downtown square. Also new this year is a grilling contest. Committee Chair Tim Pound mentioned the winner will qualify to represent Greene County at the Iowa State Fair contest.
Alumni Advisor Committee Chair Doug Rieder said there will be a blacklight dodgeball tournament and a dance for middle school students Saturday evening of the festival. Russell pointed out that they are planning on bringing back some kid and family-friendly activities and games from the previous festivals for people to enjoy.
Russell added that they are still looking for donations. Checks can be made payable to the Bell Tower Festival and can be dropped off at Home State Bank in Jefferson.
