Last season, West Central Valley Girls’ Golf saw just three golfers play for the Wildcats in 2018. This season, that number has more than doubled to seven players for the WCV Girls’ Golf team. A significant increase in Girls’ Golf participation for any school, alone at 1A sized school.
Girls’ Golf Head Coach, Traca Waddell, was hard at work during the offseason recruiting young talent to give the golf team a shot in a grassroots effort to rebuild and reload the West Central Valley Girls’ Golf program. Waddell’s hardwork yielded fruit with four Freshman learning the game and agreeing to come out and play golf for the Wildcats this Spring.
West Central Valley started their season on Monday with a meet at Jester Park with Pleasantville and Des Moines Christian. The Wildcats teed up and signed their second scorecards of the year yesterday when WCV traveled to Coon Rapids to face off against CR-B and Exira-Elkhorn-Kimbalton.
The Wildcats will play again next week, in a home meet on Tuesday afternoon against Madrid and Des Moines Christian. West Central Valley plays their home meets at 5×80 Golf Course and Country Club in Menlo.
