Don’t forget, tonight is opening night for the Perry High School production of “Seussical: the Musical.”
The story features characters and songs inspired by the varied works of Dr. Seuss, such as Horton the Elephant, all the Whos of Whoville, and of course the Cat in the Hat. The production is co-directed by Jenn Nelson and Randy Peterson, and it features a cast of more than 40 students, with several more working backstage. The directors applaud the work of the entire cast and crew, particularly in the face of several missed rehearsals due to bad weather during the winter. They add, the level of difficulty inherit to producing a musical has been high, but each felt the students were up to the task and exceeded expectations.
Sophomore Ainsley Marburger, who plays JoJo the Who, encourages the public to attend the musical because it appeals to a wide audience and will feel familiar to all ages. “It’s fun for the whole family, and I feel like it really makes the adults want to like go back to when they were a kid and just remember like all the childhood memories that came with reading Dr. Seuss.”
“Seussical: the Musical” will be performed tonight at 7 p.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center. There will also be two additional shows tomorrow, at 1 and 7 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for students and $10 for adults, and they can be purchased at the door.
