A topic that will likely be a hot one in the City of Perry over the next year is the conversion of 1st Street from four lanes to three. With that in mind, the Perry City Council will be meeting for a special work session Monday to discuss the project with the entities who are helping to make it a reality.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says the Council will be meeting with representatives from the City Engineers Bolton and Menk, as well as traffic engineers from the Iowa Department of Transportation. Peterson adds, while the session is primarily for the Council’s benefit, the public is also welcome to attend and learn about the lane conversion. “We thought it was a good opportunity to get Council together, do an education session, answer some questions and concerns they may have, and then kind of lay out our timeline and our plan for public engagement over the next year. (It’s) definitely a great opportunity to come and learn about all the different aspects of the project, and really the need and the benefits of the project.”

The work session will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, in the upstairs conference room of the Towncraft Building. To learn more about this and other City of Perry topics, click the link below to listen to the most recent Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Peterson.
