A chance of rain today could affect Sports schedules for Greene County High School teams. The Rams are scheduled for a coed track & field meet in Van Meter, girls and boys soccer in Carroll vs. the Carroll High Tigers, girls’ golf at Perry vs. the Jayettes and Des Moines Christian, and boys golf vs. Perry and Des Moines Christian in Jefferson.
The Rams have yet to open the boys’ golf season, but all other Spring sports have had at least one competition date.
Highlights from early season play include girls’ golfer Ellie Madson shooting 44 and 47 in her first two rounds of the season. The boys’ soccer team had a five goal performance from Junior Gutierrez in Tuesday’s season open 8-3 victory at Humboldt. Boys’ high jumper Carter Morton returned from a 2-1/2 week absence due to a hip muscle injury and cleared 6′ 6″ to win at the Kip Janvrin Panorama Relays in Panora. Morton is an automatic qualifier for the Drake Relays later this month in Des Moines.
The Raccoon Valley Radio stations and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will have updates on any postponements or cancellations.
