The ACGC girls and boys golf teams both kicked off their 2019 campaigns Monday at the Woodward Golf and Country Club. In a triangular with Woodward-Granger and Ogden, the Chargers picked up a pair of top-five individual finishes.
On the girls side, junior Kena Baier finished just one stroke shy of the top spot with a score of 50. Cierra DeHoet of Woodward-Granger claimed the top spot with a 49. Junior Jessica Stringer was the other Charger girl to compete on the course. She carded a 76, finishing in 13th place.
Sophomore Gunnar Larsen took the top boys spot, finishing in a tie for 5th with Ogden’s Mason Will after turning in a 47. The other top-ten finishes for the boys belonged to seniors Spencer Grove and McKlain Jorgensen. Grove scored a 49, good enough for 7th place, and hit the lone birdie on the par 4 7th. Jorgensen finished right behind Grove in 8th with a 53. Other scores for the boys included: sophomore Nolan Wheatley (59-15th), freshman Cael Hoing (63-16th), and sophomore Eli Kading (65-17th). The boys team finished in 2nd place with a team score of 208.
Ogden swept both the girls and boys team titles in the triangular with 241 and 168 strokes respectively. The boys hit the links next on Saturday in a duel with IKM-Manning. Both squads will be in action next Monday at Lake Panorama in a quadrangular with Van Meter, Ogden, and Panorama.
