Residents are reminded of a fundraiser happening this weekend for the Guthrie County Veterans Memorial.

The memorial wall committee is hosting a Sock Hop Saturday from 7-10 p.m. at the Stuart American Legion Rec Center. A free will donation will be accepted for this retro evening of music and dancing, with proceeds going towards a wall project to display names of Guthrie County veterans at the memorial located in Guthrie Center. The committee currently has funds to erect three black granite walls. However, due to an overwhelming number of name submissions, they are raising additional funds for a fourth wall to include all current names and those added in the future. The event will include prizes for best costume and best dancer, as well as other games, prizes, and refreshments.
