The Panorama track and field teams will have their first outdoor competition of the spring today as they compete at the Earlham Early Bird Meet. Girls coach Greg Thompson says he’ll have several runners competing in unfamiliar events today.
“I’ve got some girls running the 3000 that don’t normally run the 3000,” Thompson said. “I’ve got some girls running sprints that don’t normally run sprints. So I’m just trying to get some variety and yet at the same time give our kids as many opportunities as they can to get some Drake qualifying marks.”
Both the girls and boys teams will be competing outdoors for the first time this season after wrapping up the indoor part of the schedule at Graceland last Friday. The girls were dominant at Graceland, placing in the top six in all 12 events they competed in including nine first or second place finishes. The boys saw first place finishes from Spencer Hunt in two events along with several other top five finishes.
Panorama will be one of ten teams competing today at Earlham.
