A strong indoor season continued for the Panorama track and field teams Friday as they traveled to Graceland University for the Jenner Indoor Invitational.
The boys were paced by first place finishes for Spencer Hunt in both the 55-meters and 200-meters plus a top finish for the boys distance medley. Other top ten finishes for the Panther boys included Gracen Welberg taking second in the high jump and third in the 55-meter hurdles. Kevin Kogil placed sixth in the 1600-meters, Zach Rizzuti took seventh in the long jump and Koltin Sloss took fifth in shot put.
The Panther girls dominated the top of the leaderboard, placing first in six out of nine individual events. Those individual wins came from Ella Waddle in the 800 and 1500-meters, Morgan Johnk in the 55-meter hurdles and high jump, Lydia Knapp in shot put and Bailey Beckman in long jump. Beckman’s long jump distance of 16 feet, 8.75 inches bested the indoor school record by more than four inches.
Among Panorama’s other top ten performances, Kassidy Bremer took second in the 55-meter dash with Beckman fifth, Beckman and Johnk placed second and third respectively in the 200-meters, Bremer placed second in long jump with a mark that also bested the previous school record and Claire Woodworth was fifth in shot put.
The meet was the last of the indoor portion of the season for Panorama. They’ll begin outdoor competition Tuesday at Earlham.
