The next edition of the Perry Lutheran Homes monthly Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group is this coming Tuesday. Anyone with a loved one affected by either illness is welcome to attend the free event.
The meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Perry Public Library in the large meeting room. The focus of the program will be on giving attendees advice for finding healthy ways to cope with the stress of caregiving, while also learning techniques for self-care and discussing challenges everyone faces. Additionally, you can learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia and ways to best communicate with loved ones diagnosed with the diseases. No registration is required, and refreshments will be provided.
Perry Lutheran Homes hosts the support group on the fourth Tuesday of every month, with future programs to be held on April 30th, May 28th, and June 25th. The program is led by PLH Chief Care Officer, Deb Koelln, who is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Trainer. For more information on the support group, reach out to Koelln at 515-465-5342.
