Everyone is encouraged to participate in this year’s Greene County Reads.
This year’s book is “The Home of Unwanted Girls” by Joanna Goodman. It is the story of a teenage mother set in Quebec in the 1950s. The mother was forced to give her baby to an orphanage. The daughter then earns her freedom and the mother searches for her daughter years later after a chance reconnection with the estranged father. The story is based on facts from the author’s life, who will also be part of the book discussions that are coming up next month.
The discussions will take place on Thursday, April 11th. The first will be at the Churdan Library at 9am, then at the Rippey Library at 2pm and lastly at the Scranton Library at 7pm. All of the discussions will be led by Jan Scharingson and the author will Skype in for each one. Copies of the book are available at each of the county libraries. Greene County Reads is co-sponsored by the Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
