Today is the final day to register for a free program to learn about different conservation methods of farming.
The Cover Crop and No-Till Workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson. It will feature a variety of speakers including: James Holz with Iowa Cover Crop; Chris Henning, a Greene County landowner; Iowa State University Extension Cropping Specialist Mark Licht; and Liz Juchems with Iowa Learning Farms. With the difficulties that last year brought with planting to harvest seasons, this workshop will give tips and advantages that no-till gives to save money on input costs and protecting soil erosion and improving weed control that cover crops can have.
The workshop will be from noon to 2pm. It is free and open to the public with a complimentary meal served. Reservations must be made by today. Contact Juchems at 515-294-5429 or email her at ilf@iastate.edu.
