2018 Perry High graduate Sidney Vancil is getting to experience her first outdoor season at the University of Iowa.  Vancil was a star runner for the Jayettes the past couple of years qualifying for the state tournament in both the 400 and 800 meter runs.  Perry track coach Matt Hardy says Iowa has different plans for her.

“They are really trying to turn her into a mile runner.  She always had the will to win in high school and that enabled her to overcome some quicker footspeed by her opponents so I know she is adjusting to that new race.  I also know the workload has been very tough to adjust to and she is working through that stage right now. I think the switch from indoor to outdoor should really boost her a lot.”

Vancil was a four year starter for the Jayettes.
