A partial Greene County boys’ track & field squad took part in the Iowa State University High School Classic indoor meet in Ames on Tuesday. Head coach Chad Morton  reports a few athletes did not compete due to injury or illness. On the did not compete list was junior Carter Morton, who has already cleared 6′ 7″ in the high jump.

The Rams had a pair of top 10 finishes in Ames. Junior Colby Kafer was fourth among 95 long jumpers with a best leap of 20′ 3-3/4″, and junior Tyler Miller threw the shot 48′ 9-1/4″ to finish ninth in a field of 114.

Also, freshman Nathan Black tied for 17th in the high jump among 57 jumpers at 5′ 8″, and Kafer was 43rd among 131 sprinters in the 60 meter dash in 7.60 seconds. Freshmen Jackson Morton and Bryce Stalder teamed with sophomores Jaxon Warnke and Luis Carlos Velazco in the 1,600 meter medley relay to run 6:06.51, an indoor school record for the seven seasons as Greene County.

The boys will wrap up the indoor season on Friday at Graceland College in Lamoni.
