ACGC senior Ben Kingery is currently preparing for his final season on the ACGC boys track and field team. In just a few months, Kingery will be sporting different colors as he approaches his freshman season on the Northwestern College Red Raiders football team.

Kingery, who also considered Grandview University and Simpson College, heeded some advice given by head boys track and field and football coach Cody Matthewson when making his final decision. “He just said, ‘Do what your heart tells you to do. Go where you want to. Everybody’s going to give their opinion on where you should go and what you should do. But do what you want to do and you’ll be happy.’”

Kingery plans on staying active through the summer months by hitting the diamonds for the ACGC varsity baseball team. He had the third fastest time in the 100 meter dash last season for the gold and black, registering a season-best time of 12.68 at the Gonzales-Parrish Invitational in Guthrie Center. He’ll be making his debut at the Iowa State Indoor Invitational tomorrow in the long jump.

To hear Kingery’s full interview, listen to tonight’s Wahl McAtee Tire and Service Center Guthrie County PM Sports Page, beginning at 6pm on True Country, K107.9.
