The Jefferson Public Works Department continues to deal with several more water main breaks in town.

Public Works Director Dave Morlan tells Raccoon Valley Radio crews repaired a four-inch water main break on Friday in the 500 block of West Russell Street. About five houses are under a boil advisory as a precaution until water samples come back clean of contaminants. Morlan notes they are aware of three additional water main breaks that crews will be repairing early next week. The first one is located near the cemetery on Lincoln Way, another is near the intersection of Locust and Monroe streets and the final one is near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Washington Street.

Another issue is parts of the Jefferson Community Golf Course is flooded, due to water being over the banks of the Raccoon River. Morlan says an equipment shed had filled with water, but crews were able to save all of the equipment by pulling it out of there before the flooded water could damage it. Morlan is hoping that when river levels drop, they will be able to put the golf course equipment back in the shed.
