An annual fundraiser is happening this weekend in Scranton.

The 6-on-6 Basketball Fundraiser will be on Saturday at the Scranton Community Center. There will also be a free-will donation soup supper from 5 to 7pm. The menu includes a variety of soups, plus ham sandwiches, relishes, desserts and beverages. The game will take place at 6:30pm. It will be between an all-star group of Greene County adult women called the Iowa Hot Shots against the Greene County All-Stars, which are high school girls from the different towns in the county. The Town and Country Band will perform during pre-game and half-time. Co-organizer Dawn Rudolph says before the game, they will recognize former local coaches from the 6-on-6 era.

Proceeds from the event will go toward building a monument of the former school building that will eventually be placed on the southeast corner of the community center.
