Greene County and Paton-Churdan students did well at this past weekend’s state individual speech contest.
Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray says ten of their entries received a Division I-rating and of those five were straight I’s from the three judges. Those that received straight I’s included: Arthur Bardole for literary program, Maezie Holderby for expository address, Morrgan Zmolek for literary program, Jordan Davis for prose and Naomi Long for poetry. Paton-Churdan Speech Coach Stephanie Pace says six entries received I-ratings, with four getting straight I’s. Those students with straight I-ratings included: Megan Carey in prose and storytelling, Madi Minnehan in musical theater and Hannah Bundt in poetry.
The nominations for All-State will be announced this Saturday. The All-State Festival will be on Monday, March 25th at the University of Northern Iowa. A full list of all of the participants and their results from the state contest can be found below:
