Aspiring young inventors around Dallas County are invited to a special camp this summer hosted by the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF).
Camp Invention will be held at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Middle School between June 17-21, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. each day. The nonprofit summer enrichment program is open to children in grades K-6, and will teach attendees about the process of innovation using hands-on activities. The crux of the camp is science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum, with an emphasis on problem-solving and innovation. The NIHF promises that the camp will help build confidence, leadership, perseverance, and resourcefulness in attendees, while also encouraging entrepreneurship.
Included in the curriculum this year are several new activities, such as Innovation Force. In that program, campers will battle a supervillain called “the Plagiarizer” by creating a device to retrieve stolen ideas, while learning the importance of protecting intellectual property. Other curriculum includes “Deep Sea Mystery,” “Farm Tech,” and “DIY Orbot.” At the end of the program, each camper will get to take home their very own robot.
The cost to attend Camp Invention is $230 per person, and it’s open to any interested children throughout the area. For more information or to register, click the link below.
