The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The meeting began with updates from Conservation Director Joe Hanner and Public and Environmental Health Director Jotham Arber. Also, Heart of Iowa Community Services CEO Darci Alt gave an update on the fiscal year 2019 budget. Last fall she told the Board that Heart of Iowa is about $630,000 over budget, and they were working to see where budget cuts could be made. At yesterday’s meeting Alt said mental health legislation that was passed by the state last year has greatly impacted how Heart of Iowa operates, and that they can’t say no to providing services until they are broke. The Supervisors asked Alt to give an update to the Board next month.
Finally, the Board awarded a bid to Cunningham-Reis, LLC. for a concrete bridge replacement on Viceroy Trail south of Panora, and approved a professional services agreement with the Samuels Group for $5,000 for them to help with the pre-bond referendum phase of the jail project.
