Northwestern College in Orange City will continue to reap the successes of Guthrie County athletes. While Panorama’s Devyn Kemble just wrapped up her freshman season for the Northwestern girls basketball team, ACGC senior Ben Kingery is about to begin his journey as a Red Raider. Kingery signed with Northwestern Monday afternoon to play football in the fall.

Kingery, who is expected to play linebacker for the Red Raiders, holds the Charger record for rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season with 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns this past fall. Kingery led all Chargers in total tackles with 54.5, registering nine total tackles for a loss and three total sacks in the process. He ended his career with a record 139 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception return for a touchdown.

Northwestern College is a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences college with an enrollment of approximately 1,300. The Red Raiders play in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, an NAIA Division II group which includes twelve schools from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. The Red Raiders are coming off a 9-2 season, losing in the opening round of the NAIA playoffs to North Dakota’s Dickinson State University.
