The high school basketball season concluded last week in the state of Iowa. But for a former Panorama Panther, her season wrapped up just shy of an appearance in a national title game. Northwestern College freshman Devyn Kemble and her Red Raider teammates came up just short of the NAIA Division II championship game in Sioux City Monday night. They fell in the final seconds to Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Concordia University Nebraska, 82-79.
The Red Raiders began their playoff road as the #1 seed out of the Cramer Bracket. They defeated #8 seeded Olivet Nazarene out of Illinois, 93-80 in the first round and #5 seeded Indiana Wesleyan, 83-70 in the second round. In the Quarterfinals, Northwestern edged College of the Ozarks out of Missouri by a 71-70 margin.
Kemble averaged about two minutes per game for the Red Raiders this year. She scored 27 points in her freshman season, 21 of which came from beyond the arc. Kemble’s season high seven points came in Northwestern’s 94-45 triumph over Trinity Christian of Illinois. The Red Raiders finish the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 29-5.
