A Stuart man faces a felony charge for allegedly stealing a wallet with over $1,000 from the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.
Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio 43-year-old Shawn Robert Clark is charged with a Class D Felony for second degree theft. The charge stems from an investigation on February 24th. Clouse says a female reported her wallet was stolen at that casino. She told investigators that she had just won an over $1,000 jackpot from a gaming machine. After she cashed out her winnings, she put the money in her wallet. Clouse notes that later, the victim said she grabbed her purse to go to another machine and that’s when her wallet had fallen out of her purse.
Clouse says they obtained video surveillance and saw Clark had picked up the wallet and went into a restroom. He then promptly left the casino and the wallet was never located at the facility. Clouse adds that the wallet also contained a couple of credit cards. Video surveillance also captured the license plates of Clark’s vehicle, of which Clouse notes they tried reaching out to him for questioning but didn’t get a response.
An arrest warrant has been applied for. Clouse says once Clark is arrested he will be booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
