The Des Moines Area Community College VanKirk Career Academy is offering a free class this spring for adults learning English as a second language.

The ESL class will begin with a test and registration this coming Monday, in order to gauge the proficiency the individual currently has with speaking English. Testing will begin at 6 p.m. at the career academy, and should take around two hours. You must also bring a photo identification in order to register. Classes will then begin the week of March 11th and run Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. until May 2nd. DMACC emphasizes that if you register for the class, you must attend, otherwise you will be dropped.

There is no cost to take the class, though individuals will need to purchase a book, which costs $42. For more information, call the DMACC Center in Perry at 515-428-8100.
