There are a couple of spring programs coming up with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

Director Vicky Lautner says the registration deadline for U8 to U15 soccer is this Saturday. There will be a special sign up event at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson from 2 to 4pm on Saturday. Coaches will notify the players of when practices will take place. Games will be in Fort Dodge and Ogden.

Another program is the spring softball hitting and pitching clinic. It will be girls in 4th through 8th grades. It will be on Sundays from March 3rd through the 24th from 12:30 to 1:30pm for pitching and 1:30 to 2:30 for hitting at the community center. Greene County High School Softball Head Coach Tom Kennedy will lead the clinic. Lautner talks about getting a jumpstart on the softball season with this program.

“Where else better than to go inside and work in the cage doing some hitting and then also pitching. Coach Tom (Kennedy) is very good at teaching these young kids. He’s done this now for several years. I think the kids would learn a lot from him just mastering how to hit and pitch.”

Cost to participate is $15. Call 386-3412 or stop by the community center to sign up for either program.
