The Iowa State AAU Wrestling Tournament was held last weekend inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines and Greene County was represented on the podium.

McKinley Robbins won the Level C (7th-8th grade) State title at 100 lbs. with a 5-3 decision over Lucas Bruhl of Ankeny Wrestling Club. It was the first AAU State Championship for the eighth grader competing for Sebolt Wrestling Academy.

Brent Dennhardt became a three-time State AAU Champion. He won the Level B (5th-6th grade) title at 94 lbs. with a 14-1 major decision over Louden Huisenga of WACO (Wayland). Dennhardt is a sixth grader who also wrestles for Sebolt Wrestling Academy.

There were three other place winners from Greene County. Degan Miller, wrestling for Ogden Bulldog Elite placed third at 105 lbs. on the A level (3rd-4th grade). Gavyn Winters of Greene County Rams was seventh in Level B at 65 lbs., and Kolby Angell of Greene County Rams was eighth at 70 lbs. in Level C.

The AAU State Tournament is wrestled in one class and features 32 wrestlers per bracket who qualified from eighth District sites.
