A Perry man was recently sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a domestic assault and drunk driving incident in January.
According to court records, 35-year-old Freddie Avery Dalton III was found guilty of serious misdemeanors for domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, first offense, and OWI, first offense. For the first count he received a one-year prison sentence and a one-year no-contact order. He received a one-year suspended sentence for the second count. Dalton will also have to pay $1,565 in fines, surcharges, and victim restitution, though the fees will be suspended until he’s released from prison. The two sentences will run concurrently, but consecutively with a 10-year prison sentence already in progress, which stemmed from a 2015 conviction in Polk County for 2nd degree burglary.
Dalton was transported to the Newton Correctional Facility, where he had been serving the prior sentence.
