Yesterday we highlighted Noah Nelsen on his career for the ACGC boys basketball team, as well as his distinction to the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State team. Four other outgoing seniors joined him on the team this past season, and they achieved several marks for the Chargers.
Early on this past season, Noah Sargent established himself as one of the best three-point shooters in Class 2A. He finished the regular season with a record 38 completed three-pointers in a single campaign, one more than then sophomore Bryce Littler during the 2017-2018 season. Sargent finishes his career for the Chargers tied for third all-time with 43 made three-pointers. He also accumulated 171 points, 96 rebounds, 27 assists, 13 steals, and seven blocks for the gold and black, all top-ten finishes.
Will Byars also made his mark in the first three seasons of ACGC basketball. Byars finished his career with 98 points. He also made the top ten in rebounds (101), assists (23), steals (15) and blocks (8). Mike Ure and Spencer Grove round out the senior class. Ure and Grove accumulated a combined five points and seven rebounds for the Chargers. As a whole, the senior class totaled 598 points, 303 rebounds, 182 assists, 107 steals, 20 blocks, and 93 completed three-pointers.
