The planning for the Perry Sesquicentennial Celebration is ongoing, and the public is invited to help with the process.
Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee holds meetings the fourth Tuesday of each month, with the next one happening tomorrow. Pasutti says the group deals with a wide assortment of projects to prepare for Perry’s 150th birthday — including the creation of a logo and theme, lining up entertainment, and organizing fundraising events — and she adds that they’re always looking for input from anyone with an interest in helping. “Those are open for anyone to come to the meetings to help out. So whether you’re interested in celebrating various history pieces for Perry, or getting involved with planning some activities, those meetings are open to anyone. And so we encourage everyone to come out for those, or if they’re not able to make it to an evening meeting, connect with us and we can go from there.”
The celebration will be held on Fourth of July weekend, which Pasutti says may seem like it’s a long ways off, but she emphasizes that time will go quickly and the planning committee still has much to accomplish. Tomorrow’s meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the upstairs conference room at the Towncraft Building.
