Winter weather continues to impact the school calendar for the Greene County School District.

Superintendent Tim Christensen says they’ve missed about eight days of school now, due to snow and other winter weather conditions. Instead of adding more days onto the end of the 2018-19 school year, Christensen explains that they are now taking away three Wednesday early dismissals to make-up for every full day of school that is missed. So between last week’s cancellation and today’s, that would mean the last six early dismissals on Wednesdays would become full school days instead.

“We may look next year though, since we’ve started that concept of maybe taking some Wednesdays, if there’s access snowdays. That may be a concept that we look at right away next year instead of adding a student day. We may take away some Wednesdays.”

Christensen points out it is easier to make-up additional snow days with taking away early dismissals on Wednesday rather than taking days away from spring break. The final day of the school year is June 4th.
