The only senior on the Greene County High School boys’ basketball team finished his career with the Rams owning several records for the seven years playing as Greene County. Trey Hinote was a four-year varsity player and three-time first team all-conference selection in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The 6′ 0″ guard finished with 86 games and 1,339 points. The games are a Greene County record and the points are second to 2017 graduate Trey Tucker, now a Greene County assistant coach. The 43 games won in Hinotes four years also are a Greene County record, as are the 44 points he scored in a single game on Feb. 1 vs. Saydel. In fact, the 44 points is a Jefferson-based boys’ varsity basketball overall single game record going back to the origins of the program in the early twentieth century.

Hinote, known as a three-point shooter, owns Greene County three-point records for most made three’s in a season (86), three’s in a game (9), three’s in a career (265), as well as the most field goals in a single game (18), free throws made in a game (15), season free throw percentage with at least 40 attempts (83.8%), and career free throw percentage with at least 75 attempts (78.9%).

The Rams were 7-16 under the direction of head coach Chris Nelson.
