An investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s office remains into a residential fire near Paton.

The incident happened on Sunday at 513 T Avenue, when a neighbor called in the fire. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams previously reported that when he arrived on scene, the trailer house had burned completely to the ground. The homeowner, Shane Jewett, was not around at the time of the fire. Williams suspected foul play.

Williams notes that Jewett had a warrant for his arrest for an unrelated case and when they apprehended him earlier this week, they questioned Jewett. Williams says Jewett told them he didn’t have insurance on the property. Williams says the investigation remains open. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
