Road crews have been hard at work this morning in Greene County to clear the roads of snow.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss tells Raccoon Valley Radio county plow trucks were out at 5am on paved roads, while the maintainers went out at 7 on the gravel roads. He says all roads are currently in good shape and depending on how the rest of the day looks, crews may go back out periodically.

Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says city crews started their routes at 3am and were done by 9. He doesn’t anticipate sending crews back out for the rest of the day. However, he reminds downtown businesses that the snow ordinance will be in effect tonight for the square. That means parking will be prohibited from 2 to 6am so that crews can clear the square of the remaining snow.

As for traffic-related incidents, as of 10am Greene County Dispatch reports only one abandoned vehicle in the ditch due to snow-covered roads.
