As Guthrie County sees continued snowfall this week, motorists are reminded to give themselves extra time to travel on state and county roads.

County Engineer Josh Sebern urges people not to travel during dangerous winter storms if possible, but adds that the Secondary Roads Department is giving their best to get the roads cleared as soon as possible. “We’re coming, we’re doing everything we can. The graders have a little under 100 miles to clear so it takes some time. The trucks are out, we’re doing all we can to get everybody out. We understand people want to get out and moving, the guys know that too, we’re trying and doing everything we can, we just appreciate some patience.”

In the event of a winter storm, the Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department operates from 5 a.m.-5 p.m. to treat paved and gravel routes. When severe winter weather affects Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties, listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network for road condition, weather, and cancellation information.
