The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The Board started the meeting by setting a public hearing for March 19th at 9:30am for a 2019 Dallas County Economic Development Urban Renewal Area and Urban Renewal Plan designation for an expansion project at the Tyson Foods plant in Perry. Next, they approved a pair of change orders related to the courthouse renovation project. The first was an increase of $3,194 to add a storage closet for the Clerk of Court and Juvenile Court Services in the east wing of the second floor. The other was for $16,829 to tackle a larger issue. Jerry Purdy from Design Alliance explained, they need to move an Information Technology Department closet from one section of the east wing of the first floor to a different area. The first phase of the renovation is still on schedule to be completed by March 15th.
The remainder of the items on the agenda involved discussions but no action. Topics included: a sign purchased by the City of Perry to place at the County’s rural recycling site to remind Perry residents they aren’t to dump their items there; the dissolution of the Adel-Dallas County Public Corporation following the expiration of a 28E agreement; consideration of using the community room at the Health and Human Services Campus for non-County functions and events; and discussion on House Bill 165, a new tax bill proposal, and how it could affect county government.
The meeting concluded with Supervisor Mark Hanson mentioning that the Human Resources Search Committee has narrowed the candidates down to two for the new HR Director, and the Board will conduct interviews with the finalists next Tuesday afternoon.
