In the midst of state title aspirations for basketball and wrestling, one ACGC senior took to the pool in a quest for a state championship. Throughout his high school career, Matt Hanner has suited up for the Carroll Tigers swim program. Earlier this month, Hanner helped take home a top-ten finish at the state meet in Iowa City.
Hanner swam the second leg on the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay for the Tiger team that finished in 10th place with a time of 1:29.10. Hanner also swam in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay that finished in 17th, with a time of 3:20.01. The team finished in 20th place with a total of 23 points.
Hanner and the rest of his team qualified for the state meet at the district meet on February 2nd in Fort Dodge. The 200 team won the district title while the 400 team swam just fast enough at districts to qualify. At the district competition, Hanner also competed in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and the 100 Yard Butterfly. Carroll has welcomed ACGC athletes for both the boys and girls teams.
