A considerable amount of snowfall was dropped this weekend on the entirety of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, with more possibly to come this week.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall totals for Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties between Saturday and Sunday night were around seven-inches in most areas, with as much as 10 inches reported in Van Meter. The listening area is also not yet out of the woods, as there has been a winter storm watch issued from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning this week. Between 5-7 inches of additional snowfall accumulation is expected, causing difficult travel conditions.

Also, the Iowa Department of Transportation reports that all state highways in Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties are currently partially covered with snow, and a tow ban has been issued for Guthrie. Keep listening to Raccoon Valley Radio for the latest winter weather updates from our Severe Weather Action Team, as well as any cancellation and delay information.
