A pair of 2018 Class 2A girls basketball state qualifiers face off in Johnston tonight for one spot in next week’s annual tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The No. 6 Panorama Panthers, the top seed in Class 2A Region 7, battle the No. 7 Dike-New Hartford Wolverines in this evening regional championship game. Panorama’s road back to the state qualifying contest hasn’t been easy for the Panthers, overcoming a pair of halftime deficits to the Woodward-Granger Hawks (39-23) and the Nodaway Valley Wolverines (45-33). Dike-New Hartford, whose only state tournament berth as a consolidated school district came last winter, is facing their third West Central Activites Conference opponent along the postseason trail. The Wolverines defeated WCAC members Ogden (57-34) and Van Meter (58-45) to advance to tonight’s regional championship game. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of the Class 2A Region 7 championship game between Panorama and Dike-New Hartford on our KKRF 2 stream at raccoonvalleyradio.com. Pregame coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. and tip-off set for 7 p.m. from Johnston High School.
