ACGC grapplers Blaine Beeler and Easton Benson saw their careers come to an end Saturday in one of the best ways: a spot on the podium at the IHSAA State Wrestling Championships.

Beeler advanced to the 5th place match at 120 pounds while Benson wrestled for 7th at 138. Beeler matched up against Denver junior Jacob Moore, who was the District 1 runner-up and 5th seed. Beeler’s match was a short one, as Moore won by fall at 1:12. Beeler finishes his senior season with a record of 38-12 and a 6th place finish at state.

Benson’s bout came against Riceville freshman Lawson Losee, who was the District 1 runner up and 11th seed. The match took nearly the entire six minutes, but resulted in a technical fall (18-3) victory for Losee. Benson finishes his senior season with a record of 30-14 and an 8th place finish.

Sophomore Gunnar Larsen also recorded a win in the first consolation round, before coming up short in the second consolation round. Beeler and Benson are the first ACGC Charger wrestlers to reach the podium at state.
