A Panorama senior received a national title in showing cattle and broke a steer sales record recently.
18-year-old Kassidy Bremer of Redfield showed the Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the 2019 National Western Stock Show in Denver this past January. Bremer has been showing cattle most of her life, and she gets emotional describing the moment she received the national title, “Grand Drive comes and I get to walk my steer across the green carpet and it was all just overwhelming after they picked Kutter (Bland), my friend from Texas, he won and then the judge Mr. Allen came over by me and took his hat off and shook my hand, so it was really overwhelming.”
Bremer’s steer, El Diablo, set a sales record for Reserve Grand Champion with a bid of $90,000. A portion of these proceeds will go towards Bremer’s postsecondary education. She plans on attending Illinois Central College to be on their livestock judging team, and then transfer to a larger university. Bremer says there isn’t a crowded field for female show judges, so it may be a career path for her. This was the final junior stock show for Bremer, which she says was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
