The two Greene County Rams state qualifying wrestlers had to wait until the late session to begin their tournament treks at Wells Fargo Arena Thursday night.
For senior Bryce Hoyle at 195-pounds, he started out with a tough opening draw with an undefeated opponent in Julian Broderson of Davenport Assumption. Hoyle lost by pinfall, but then Hoyle came back in the first round of consolations and won his bout against Reid Walters of Chariton by a 2-1 decision. Hoyle will wrestle in the second consolation round later today. Greene County’s other qualifier, Brock Wuebker at 170-pounds, saw his tournament run end after the first day. He lost both of his matches on Thursday.
