State Wrestling Tournament qualifiers in Class 1A are on the eight mats at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com followed nine wrestlers from four area 1A schools. Three suffered two losses and their tournament run is over. Three won in the first round and will wrestle late Friday morning in the quarterfinals and three more will be in Friday’s second consolation round.

106 Elliot Cooney, Nodaway Valley lost by fall :44 to Stevie Barnes, Underwood; won by fall 1:58 over Ryan Duckett, St. Edmond (Ft. Dodge)

120 Blaine Beeler, ACGC won by fall 3:07 over Mitchell Moore, Wapello

126 Justin Garcia, West Central Valley lost by fall :32 to Cole Cassidy, Martensdale, St. Mary’s; lost by fall 3:36 to Bowen Munger, Starmont (Strawberry Point)

132 Gunnar Larsen, ACGC lost 1-0 to Nolan Noonan, Cascade;  won 7-3 over Nathan Thomsen, East Sac County (Lake View)

138 Easton Benson, ACGC won 5-3 over Nate Monahan, Woodbury Central (Moville)

145 Wyatt Appleseth, Panorama lost 14-4 major decision to Duke Kyle, Missouri Valley; won 11-0 major decision over Blake McAlister, South Central Calhoun (Lake City)

152 Cole Sackett, West Central Valley; lost 7-5 in overtime to Garret Arment, Woodbury Central (Movie); lost by fall 2:47 to Kade Chance, Cardinal (Eldon)

170 Garret Fox, Panorama lost by fall 3:38 to Cael Rahnavardi, Don Bosco; lost by fall :58 to Luke Grove, North Mahaska (New Sharon)

195 Carson Wadle, West Central Valley won by fall 3:14 over Luke Kosinski, Audubon

First round winners advance to the Friday late morning quarterfinals. A loss followed by a consolation win means a wrestler advances to the second consolation round on Friday. Two losses today means an end to a qualifier’s tournament.
