The high school boys’ basketball season for the Greene County Rams is over. Coach Chris Nelson’s team finished with a 7-16 record after losing to Southeast Valley (Gowrie) 64-55 in a Class 2A District 12 first round contest Wednesday night in Ogden. The Jaguars are 8-14 and play 20-1 South Central Calhoun tonight in Rockwell City.

The Rams led 28-22 at halftime and increased the lead to 11 points at 33-22 just one minutes into the second half. From that point on, SEV was in control. The out scored the Rams 42-22 the rest of the way. Only five Jaguars scored points, but four of them had 13 or more and all five exceeded their game scoring averages. The SEV team scored 10 points more than the 54 points they entered the game averaging. Carter Lane had 18 points, Kolson Kruse 15, Robert Jepsen 13 and Chase Swieter 13. ‘

The Rams had 20 turnovers, nine in the third quarter, and did not not a fourth quarter field goal the first 6:17 of the period. The Rams led 44-42 after three quarters of play, then couldn’t score until the game had been decided. Trey Hinote is the lone senior on the Greene County team. He had 24 points and finished his career with 1,339. Carter Morton had 23 as the two combined for all but eight of Greene County’s points.
