A balanced scoring effort translated into an easy victory Wednesday night for the Panorama Panthers boys basketball team in their playoff opener. Six Panther players recorded six or more points in a 70-33 win over the West Central Valley Wildcats in the quarterfinal round of the Class 2A District 13 tournament in Stuart. Senior Gracen Welburg and sophomore Jack Weinkoetz led Panorama with 11 points respectively. Junior Malachi Peasley and freshman Jared Wasson chipped in seven points each while sophomore twin brothers Evan and Drew Taylor added six a piece in the win. Senior Cole Arnburg closed his high school basketball career with a team-high 16 points for West Central Valley. The Panorama boys basketball team has a quick turnaround, playing the Woodward-Granger Hawks tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the first district semifinal contest at Des Moines Christian High School.
Last night In Panora, the Panorama Panther girls basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of the Class 2A Region 7 tournament with a 39-23 victory over the Woodward-Granger Lady Hawks. The Panthers resume playoff action Friday night in Adel against the Nodaway Valley Wolverines. Nodaway Valley advanced to the semifinal round with a 53-42 triumph of Southeast Valley.
