Another Raccoon River Conference member is the initial playoff opponent of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball this evening. ADM opens up Class 4A Region 8 tournament play in the quarterfinal round hosting the Carlisle Wildcats. The pair of league foes split their two-game season series with the home team winning each contest. Carlisle won the previous meeting, 58-46, on February 5 during the Wildcats senior night celebration. ADM shot 29 percent from the floor against Carlisle that night, missing nine of their 14 free throw attempts and making three of their 26 three-point tries. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network got a chance to talk with junior Abbie Hlas Friday night in Boone about playing Carlisle for the third time. “I’m really excited,” Hlas said, “Carlisle and us, we always go head-to-head (in sports). It’s always an ugly battle, but we’re going to come ready for them, and they’re going to come in ready for us. I expect it to be close and I expect it to be exciting.”
One of ADM’s most complete games of the season came against Carlisle on December 11, topping the Wildcats, 67-37. The winner of tonight’s game advances to the regional semifinal game Saturday at No. 4 Grinnell (17-2 overall). The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will provide live play by play coverage of the Class 4A Region 8 quarterfinal contest between ADM and Carlisle on True Country K 107.9 FM, racccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app. Pregame comments start around 6:30 p.m. and tip-off set for 7 p.m. from ADM’s North Gym in Adel.
