The Stuart City Council met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with the Council setting March 3rd as the date for a public hearing on the City’s proposed fiscal year 2020 budget. Next, the Council approved a third pay estimate from concrete contractor Kingston Services for work done on the Wambold 2nd Addition. The Council also approved a resolution on a $30,000 economic development forgivable loan for Hoosier-Hawk Real Estate Company for rehabilitation of blighted properties located at 413 South Division Street, 308 North Main Street, and 403 North Fremont Street. The Council also moved to send a request for purchase of property at 308 North Harrison Street to the City Attorney. Finally, the Council directed Economic Development Director Kristen Renslow to write a letter to the Iowa Economic Development Authority declining the $100,000 Community Catalyst grant they received last year, and approved applying for up to $20,000 of a 50/50 matching Guthrie County Community Foundation grant pending City Administrator Ashraf Ashour’s confirmation on the amount of funds available in their Parks and Recreation budget.
