It’s Greene County vs. Southeast Valley (Gowrie) from Ogden tonight, weather permitting, to begin Class 2A District 12 boys’ district basketball tournament play. Game time is 6:30 p.m. with coverage around six o’clock on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams have a 7-15 record. The Ram have dropped nine of their last 11 games while SEV has lost four of its last five. The Rams are averaging 63 points per game and the Jaguars are at 54 per contest. Both teams have had issues at times preventing the other team from scoring. In more than two-thirds of Greene County’s games, the opposition has scored more points against the Rams than they average vs. all other teams. SEV is coming off giving up triple-digits to Ogden on Feb. 8 in a 101-73 loss.

The Rams are led in scoring by senior Trey Hinote, who has more than 1,300 career points. The only senior on the team, he’s averaging 21.5 points per game. The Jaguars lost their leading scorer to injury 14 games into the season. Aaron Graves, a freshman, averaged 18.5 per contest, but his season is reported to be over.

Tonight’s winners goes to Rockwell City on Feb. 14 to face 20-1 South Central Calhoun in a district semifinal.
