The City of Rippey enjoyed one of the most successful Bike Ride to Rippey (BRR) events in recent memory.
Over 800 bicyclists made the 24-mile trip from downtown Perry to the small Greene County town of about 250 people. Not only did the town’s population grow over five-times last Saturday, several organizations and businesses benefited financially as well. The Rippey Lions Club made over $1,000 and sold out of their roast beef sundaes, while the United Methodist Church raised over $2,000 from their baked potato bar and homemade pies. The Friends of Rippey hosted a beverage garden raising funds for the City’s project of converting the former gymnasium into the new fire station.
Mayor Dan Brubaker said everyone was out of Rippey by the 3pm deadline and there were no traffic accidents.
