It’s a busy Saturday for ACGC athletics as the ACGC wrestling and girls basketball teams are both in action.

The Charger grapplers will hit the road to Truro this afternoon for the Class 1A District 2 Tournament held at Interstate-35 High School. The Chargers competing for a spot in the state tournament include: senior Blaine Beeler (120), sophomore Gunnar Larsen (132), senior Easton Benson (138), senior Gabe Rowley (145), and senior Ben Kingery (195). They join a total of sixteen athletes from Guthrie County schools with a 50-50 shot at a spot at “The Well”. Beeler is the only Charger in the five to have made it to Des Moines, doing so in his freshman year with Guthrie Center at 106 pounds. First grapples begin at around noon from Truro.

The ACGC girls basketball team also begins their postseason play tonight as they travel to corning for a rematch with the Southwest Valley Timberwolves. The Chargers bested the Timberwolves in Guthrie Center last month with a 71-65 result. That was also the previous victory for the gold and black as the Chargers have lost four straight since that victory. Sophomore Kylie Young led all Chargers in the win with 14 points, while SW senior Morgan Shuey led all scores with 26. You can hear the game tonight on True Country K107.9, RaccoonValleyRadio.com, and on the KKRF mobile app. Pregame begins around 6:45pm with the tipoff set for 7 from Corning.
