A nonconference opponent on this year’s Adel-Desoto-Minburn varsity boys basketball schedule is the initial playoff adversary of the Tigers. The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the substate brackets for Class 3A and 4A teams Thursday afternoon, and ADM found out they were put in the Class 3A Substate 7 bracket. The Tigers playoff run starts on Monday, February 18 at Gilbert High School against the North Polk Comets (5-13 overall)l. ADM and North Polk squared off in Adel on December 20; The Tigers outscored the Comets, 30-12, in the second and third quarters for a 63-45 victory. ADM tallied 16 assists on 22 made baskets against North Polk in their only regular-season meeting. Senior Koby Hardcastle led the Tigers with 12 points against the Comets. Should ADM top North Polk for a second time, they’ll advance to face the winner of Gilbert and Saydel on Thursday, February 21 at the home gym of the highest seed. The substate championship game takes place on Monday, February 25 at a site to be determined. ADM closes their Raccoon River Conference schedule tonight on the road against the Boone Toreadors.
